About this rug
Rafter is natural jute with black stripes, in a rustic, slightly hairy texture. It is handwoven in India with a low, nubbled surface. Jute is plant fibre and rougher than wool, so it is less comfortable than wool under bare feet.
Living rooms and bedrooms with dark timber, black metal or cane. The black stripes echo window frames or chair legs. Use it under a low table or beside a bed.

| 190 x 290 cm | Most living rooms, with the front legs of every seat on the rug. Under a queen bed. |
| 8 x 10 ft | Larger living rooms and open-plan spaces. Under a king bed, or a dining table for six. |
Measuring. Leave 30–45 cm (12–18 in) of floor showing around the rug. Under a dining table, allow 60 cm (24 in) beyond each side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out.
Handmade rugs can vary slightly from the stated size. Need a different size? Ask us about the measurements you need and we’ll confirm the options.
Care
- Vacuum on suction only, with the beater bar off. Shake small sizes outdoors.
- Blot spills at once with a dry cloth. Jute marks if it stays wet, so do not scrub or soak it.
- Keep it out of bathrooms and other damp rooms.
- Natural fibre sheds a little at first. This settles.
- Use a rug pad on hard floors so the rug stays flat and does not slip.
- For a deep clean, use a professional rug cleaner.
