Custom-size rugs for Australian homes: from a taped outline to a clear quote

Custom rug outline with labelled width and length and a dashed taped perimeter.

A custom-size rug is worth considering when the design is right but the listed dimensions do not work. You can begin with a rug you like, the width and length you need, and a photo of the room. We’ll check the options and confirm the price and timing before you commit.

You do not need to commission a new pattern to ask for a different size. Resizing an existing design and developing a new design are different requests. Tell us which you have in mind so we can give you a useful answer.

When does a custom size solve a real problem?

It may help when a modular sofa extends beyond the available rug, a dining chair catches an edge or a runner falls short of the useful part of a hallway. Start with the furniture and the clear floor area. If a listed size fits comfortably, there may be no reason to order a custom version.

Choose your design before asking for a price

The same dimensions can cost different amounts in different constructions and materials. A size alone is not enough for an accurate rug quote. Browse the collection, choose one or two designs, and send their names or links with your measurements.

Margin, for example, has a plain ivory field and raised tonal border. If you like that design but need another footprint, ask about resizing Margin specifically. We will confirm whether it is possible and how its proportions would be handled.

What should you measure?

  • Width and length of the rug outline, in centimetres. Label which is which.
  • The furniture the rug needs to connect, including pulled-out dining chairs where relevant.
  • Door swings, narrow passages and any obstruction near the outline.
  • Diameter for a round rug, rather than its circumference.

Use low-tack tape suitable for your flooring to mark the outline. Check it from the doorway and walk around it. If you are unsure about the measurement, share that uncertainty rather than choosing a number at random.

Send a short request

A request can be as simple as: “I’m considering Margin for our living room in Melbourne. The outline we taped is 245 × 340 cm. I’ve attached a room photo. Could you confirm whether that size is possible, the price and estimated arrival? We would like it by [your required date].”

The date helps us check feasibility; it does not reserve a delivery slot. We will confirm the specific rug’s timing. If you do not have a deadline, there is no need to invent one.

What should the quote confirm?

Detail Why it matters
Design and construction So the quote refers to the rug you chose.
Finished dimensions So both sides agree the footprint, units and any permitted variation.
Colour and pattern proportions So resizing does not create an unexpected result.
Total price and currency So you know what you are paying before production.
Estimated arrival and return terms So you can plan the room and understand the order.

Our prices include free worldwide shipping, taxes and import duties. Ask us to confirm the total for your Australian address and the payment currency in your quote. If a carrier later requests customs payment, contact us before paying. See our shipping policy for the full terms.
